Revisit & Maintain your Emergency Response & Rescue Skills

The purpose of this course is to maintain and validate the currency of Emergency Response
Team members skills and knowledge to respond appropriately in the event of an onsite
emergency.
Learners entering this course have been selected by their companies to represent the
organisation as an Emergency Response Team Member in their Australian Oil & Gas
operations. Alongside their typical daily duties, these personnel are provided with training
in emergency response so that they can safely provide an appropriate response to onsite
incidents.

Structure and Assessment
This program encourages candidates to practically revisit then demonstrate and apply skills and knowledge to realistic work activities. Practical activities are conducted in our immersive, workplace aligned training environments. The practical assessments capture evidence of knowledge modelled around work activities conducted in real time under industry aligned conditions.

Ongoing maintenance of skills
In alignment with industry expectations and to ensure ongoing competence and capability, ERGT recommends skills maintenance be conducted every 2 years.

Learning Outcomes
The performance criteria listed below describe the essential outcomes aligned to the industry performance expectations.

Operate Breathing Apparatus

  • Conduct pre-donning checks and tests on breathing apparatus
  • Operate breathing apparatus
  • Conclude operations in accordance with procedures

Enter Confined Space

Assess confined space for entry

  • Use safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Work in accordance with confined space requirements
  • Conclude confined space operations in accordance with procedures

Fire Control and Emergency Rescue

  • Respond to identified fire emergencies
  • Deploy fire emergency equipment
  • Undertake search and rescue of affected areas

Undertake Confined Space Rescue

  • Prepare for confined space rescue operation
  • Assess and manage confined space rescue
  • Determine location and condition of casualties
  • Gain entry to confined space
  • Remove casualties
  • Conclude rescue operations

Work Safely at Heights

  • Identify work requirements
  • Identify work procedures and instructions
  • Access and install equipment
  • Perform work at heights
  • Clean up work area

Gas Test Atmospheres

  • Prepare for gas testing
  • Test gas
  • Maintain equipment

Rescue From Heights

  • Identify rescue from heights principals
  • Identify self-rescue techniques
  • Identify the process to rescue a conscious and unconscious casualty
  • Identify suspension tolerance
  • Undertake a rescue from heights

  • Or a relevant ERGT Skills Maintenance course

Additional Requirements
Please read the attached AS/NZS 1715 Appendix B: Facial Seal of Respirators. You will not be able to meet competency if you do not comply with the requirements of the standard.
