course content covers recognising emergency situations and the need for CPR, assessing casualties’ conditions and performing CPR in accordance with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, operating an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and conveying incident details to emergency response services.
This course is essential for personnel who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

LEARNING OUTCOMES The expected learning outcomes for this Nationally Recognised Training unit are:
HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Respond to an emergency situation
- Perform CPR procedures
- Communicate details of the incident
TRAINING STANDARD PRE-REQUISITES There are no training standard pre-requisites for this course.
ERGT REQUIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEGDE There are no prior skills and knowledge required for this course.
MEDICAL & HEALTH STANDARDS A medical certificate is not required for this course; however a health questionnaire and declaration of fitness will be required at course registration.

SKILLS MAINTENANCE In alignment with industry expectations and to ensure ongoing competence and capability ERGT recommends skills maintenance be conducted every 2 years.
This course is delivered through classroom presentations, activities and learner discussions, as well as practical components within a simulated workplace environment using specialised equipment. Learners will demonstrate their competence through direct observation, oral and/or written assessment and practical exercises.
