ERGT’s Aviation Industry Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (AVI HUET) & Emergency Breathing Systems (EBS) course develops skills & knowledge required to exit an aircraft during underwater escape situations while utilising emergency breathing systems. The course covers; preparing for aircraft ditching, undertaking evacuation from an aircraft, conducting rescue recovery process, & controlling survival hazards. The EBS component incorporates preparing an EBS for use, operating an EBS during Helicopter evacuation & completing EBS pre and post-operational procedures.
DURATION: 1 Day LOCATION: Perth, Melbourne & Darwin DESIGNED FOR: This course is designed for aviation crews, emergency services, search & rescue, and law enforcement crews. PRE-REQUISITES: Medical Clearance: Trainees will be required to supply a completed medical clearance on their first day of training. This medical clearance must have been completed by a medical practitioner within twelve months of the start of the course.
SKILLS MAINTENANCE: In alignment with industry expectations and to ensure ongoing competence and capability ERGT recommends skills maintenance be conducted every 2 years.
Upon successful completion trainees will be issued with a Statement of Attainment in:
- AVIF2014 Undertake aircraft underwater escape & survival (Prepare for aircraft ditching, undertake evacuation from the aircraft, conduct rescue recovery process, and control survival hazards).
- AVIF2015 Utilise emergency breathing system (Prepare an EBS for use, operate an EBS and Complete EBS after flight procedures).
This program encourages candidates to practically demonstrate and apply skills and knowledge to realistic underwater escape situations. Practical activities involve simulated helicopter scenarios. Trainees will be assessed using direct observation, oral and/or written assessment, and practical exercises simulating helicopter ditching scenarios.
